912E - values?

While out today, the wife and I came across a 912E that seems to be in "OK" shape.
The car had done almost 300,000 miles on the odo, had a repaint at some time. Didn't see any major rust issues - looked aroudn the battery, even.
Interior seems OK.
Was told the engine had been rebuilt...at some point.

Asking price is $10,000.

Assuming the car is just "OK" what do these cars typically go for?

10k seems on the high side. Does it have a sunroof? Is this car yellow? I looked at a yellow one in the NW that had a ton of miles on it and still drove it daily. That's got to say something for those engines. Plus those type 4 VW motors can be pepped up nicely and still motor parts are pretty easy to get and less expensive. Some parts to modify for smog and the 912 are very hard to come by. If it still has smog pump, hold on to that baby;-)

It's not a sunroof.
Not yellow - silver/grey. This one is in the Lake Steven area - Frontier Village, near Everett.

Two years ago I got mine for $6000. Non-sunroof, carbs, solid body, decent paint, 130,000 miles. Great driver.

The 912 Registry has a bunch of info on the 912 & 912E. One of the members is creating a Registry of all 912E's & would appreciate a bit of info about this one. Could you PM the VIN, color, & maybe some conrtact info so Aric could call the owner?
