Fuel lines
Yes... I've had my gas leak episode and all the rubber lines are being gone thru and changed regardless of how they look!
Thanks

Small progress
Had a chance to get some work done on Butzy last rainy Saturday. In preparation for installation of the rebuilt pedal cluster, I wanted to apply some Rust Prevention to the cockpit floors.
I had the pedal cluster sent of to Bruce in California and $235 and 10 days later I had a work of art with nickel plating and powder coated re bushed result. Well worth the cost, highly recommended! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hi Test Gas?
These cars run on regular gas... The Compression ratio is relatively low. I've got a high mileage car (237K) that has never missed a beat in 15 years and never had a taste of the good stuff. I know you'll enjoy your "E". They are fun to drive and bulletproof.

Well Dan, the owner of MVP Automotive and my personal friend is spearheading the work on 'Butzy' and found twoleaky iinjectors and a cracked air intake and some other small issues so now the motor starts at the first few revs of the starter and actually idles!
If Dan could I know he would like to have hands on at every stage but he has a business to run. I'm glad when he does apply his magic touch at any opportunity! More to come for #444!

New Rocker Panels have been acquired and Jack receiver tubes are on the way so now it's time to sort out the stuck/vandalized sunroof!
While in outside storage last winter at my mecahanics shop some jerk tried to jump through the sunroof... So now besides stuck cables and such. more work straightening out dings! ![]() Onward and Upwards!

That sucks that some idiot jumped on your roof - what's wrong with these people??
From what I can see it looks like the seals around your sunroof are non-existent. That might be letting rain water in and could be the reason you have water collecting in the rear footwells. When you open the sunroof you will see drain holes in each corner of the roof opening - check that these are not blocked too. I've been trying to get the sunroof on my 912E to work for a while now. My seals were very worn and missing completely in some areas. The cables were totally seized/rusted inside guide tubes at the back of the sunroof mechanism. I had to cut them to get them out. I had to get new guide tubes and I initially bought used cables which haven't really worked. I'm on the lookout for new or NOS cables - they are quite expensive. I closed mine back up and will try and tackle it at a later date. I did put in new seals so at least no more water is getting in. |

2016 Update
Update: Rust remediation has been undertaken by my good friend Master Mechanic Dan Haynes the owner and founder of MVP Automotive in the new Brookhaven location.
Both Jack Receivers were purchased through our host's here at Pelican Parts and the older perished receivers were cut out and replaced with some amount of fabrication of frame rails needed. Pics: ![]() Rocker Panels were removed and more rust repair completed. I was able to acquire a pair of like new but used Rockers again through the Parts Wanted Forum here at Pelicam Parts. The are even the same color! But will be resprayed of course when the project heads to the paint booth. Dan and his guys did a great job even providing such details as chip guard and primer. Pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() More to follow, we are getting close to finishing 'Butzi'! I am hoping for an early Fall unvilimg... we are entering August next week already. It has been a while. Absolutely Paul, my accelerator cable currently gets stuck under the tunnel if pushed past a certain point and results in WOT because of worn factory plastic bushings.... Bronze bushing kit is on order, so that never happens again....

912E Master Mechanic Dan Haynes!
Here are a few quick videos of my friend Dan, Master Mechanic and owner of MVP Automotive Bellport and now the new Brookhaven location.
Dan is the only one allowed to lay his magic hands on 'Butzi's' Mechanics! Working a little magic on the idle at start after some injector work... http:// Indulge me and Enjoy! Paul

I also just got into a 912E this week.
Can any of the contributors here point me to a thread that will outline what's involved with a vented rotor upgrade? Sorry to the OP for the hijack, and thanks for any responses. Bill K
