031 Distributor + Ignitor = "jump around - jump around"?

Hi,

I fitted an Ignitor to my 031-distributor and noticed immediately that the ignition is jumping around under my timing light. (say 3-6 degrees?) More so than last summer when I still hade the points. Could this be due to the fact that the pickup and sensor are gapped incorrectly or were my distributor axle a bit worn already and the breaker points were somewhat more "forgiving"?

How does this work?

You will probably need to have the 031 rebuilt or the least checked.
