rain guard technical question
Hello
My first post. I have a 67 targa - a family car purchased by my uncle in Germany. Its missing the rain tray and I've located a 67 and a 69. Does anyone know if they were different for coupes/targas and are they interchangeable from the 66- 72? How do these attach to the lid - I know they have 6 aluminum threaded studs but there are no attachment locations on the lid. Thanks Tim |

There are no differences between the coupe and Targa rain trays. However, there is between the pre and post '68's trays. The difference is the center bar divider on the grill opening; this creates an offset for the center mounting holes. Having said this, most don't know the difference and you find that many trays have had holes drilled for both mountings (the trays actually have a different pattern to them).
As to mounting, the hex standoffs have internal threads on both ends so the grill mounting bolts hold both the grill and the standoff while the rain tray bolts to the other end.

difference
Thanks Jung. I've located a 67 and 69 and both have 8 holes - 2 offset. Found a pic of an unmolested 67 in place and it has 8 with 6 spacers so it looks like they are interchangeable.

Parts Catalog Diagram
Here's the parts numbers for the pieces to assemble. The aluminum threaded posts on the grille are fragile; so it's almost like the factory expected some to strip out and provided a couple extra mounting points.
