Pic of new 69 912.

Hi all,

Well I've finally managed to get a few snaps of the 912 which I picked up last Friday after it's two month journey from LA. The car has been off the road for 13 years so its needs a little work. It's solid bar a few small areas of rust on the pan and small area around the screen.

Last night I got the engine running, and I've got a really good feeling about this engine, it runs very strong and is really clean. I'll do a compression test later today. First gear is toast but I have a spare box. Interior is relatively good bar the common rip in the drives seat and split dash cover. My biggest problem is going to be the electrics which is not really a problem just a little time is required. The wheels are massive 7's at the front and 8's at the back_ouch. Well there coming of and some 6's should be going on.

I will keep you up to date on how it all goes, but for now I've attached one pic.

PS. I've also got a few snaps of the new 1971 911S which I'll send soon, Still not told any of the family yet !! whoops

Very nice! I do have one question though. How the heck have you kept the 911S from your wife???? That's talent.

Hi Bob, Josh and all,

I am managing to keep the S undercover (only for a while-they know something is up !!) as I'm storing it at my friends place. I've brought the interior and some other bit's home, which I think may have given the game away. Even my 5 year old nephew is wondering why there are 3 cars and 4 interiors.

Bob, as I mentioned the wheels are 7 and 8's by 15's. The arches have not been touched, enlarged or rolled which I'm very happy about. Since you mention "aggressive classic" look I've started to look at the car in a different light. The main problem is the rear tires, I don't know if the pic shows it but the 195 on there are really stretch out over the 8 inch rim. The wheels are not originals but I believe are brand new. I spent 5 mins on each with a bit of chrome cleaner and now they are gleaming. I think I will still be selling them as there is a set of 6 waiting, so if anyone is interested ??

Cheers

Hi Alan

I'm also in the UK. Its funny that we have to chat through an American Forum, (no offence out there, its the best) yet only being 50 miles apart – plus get our cars / parts from the States!!. I notice you said the Gearbox is 'Toast' and that you have a spair....I'm after a good 5 speed for my 66. Any ideas in the UK? before I ship one from the states?

Hi,

Only 50 miles away hey, maybe we should get together for a beer, some time_ can't wait for the summer months, and long drives. Your 66 looks fine and the polished fuchs really suit it_ I look forward to seeing it over the summer. Are you missing the early 912 badge?

You mention that you need a 5-speed box. I've just had a look at Transend whom has a 5 speed early 911 box and it is "expensive" and also has a slightly different gearing. Better to find a 912 replacement. It's very hard but it's best to find one that you know the history of or comes with a guarantee, hence this rules out the states_ask me how I know.

If you mail me off line I will ask around for you.
