Generator/pulleys question

Hey everyone,

Have you ever noticed that these cars will only break down on a weekend? They couldn't possibly break on a monday when you would be able to get parts and fix it.

Anyway, my engine tried to commit suicide today... Somehow the generator pulley hub had worn to a point where when starting the engine the inner pulley have was hitting it with a lot of force. I started it and the pulley half disintegrated.

So I need new pulleys and a hub. Does anyone know where to find those anodized pulley halves? I'd had a really nice pair before they were stolen (don't ask). I know performance products sells them, but I really hate them and will never order from them again.

Also, I haven't done this since I changed generators, does anyone know how to get the pulley hub off of the generator itself? Mine could just be stuck, but I didn't want to try pulling it off harder in case I was doing something wrong.

Thanks,
Andrew

Well, once again the answer is VW parts, they're much better quality in this case. I know virtually every parts palce carries the pulley parts, but not all of them are coated in the same way.

I still have no idea how to get the hub off though. Any suggestions?

It finally took two big flathead screw drivers, a hammer, a vise grip, a can of WD-40, and a gear puller to get that stupid hub off. I can't get the new parts until Tuesday, but at least I know how to fix it now.
