Two new questions...
Hey guys , couple more quick questions maybe someone here can answer...
#1. Coming off of the oil fill can there is a small diameter hose...mine has been plugged off. I'm trying to figure out where this originally attached...I've looked in every book and diagram I have but I can't find it anywhere...it seems like it ought to be an overflow that runs back into the valve cover...but I don't see where the heck it would connect...any ideas...??? #2. Does anyone have a good picture of the heating plumbing coming off of the fan shroud...again mine is missing this tubes and I would like to get them put back on correctly but the books show no good detail of what goes where... any help is appreciated!!! Thanks,

#1 - there are 2 outlets on the oil filler, lower one goes back to the crank case near plug #2. Upper one runs back to the carbs. I replaced #2 with a simple K&N breather filter. #2 - Is this the "T" that sits on top of the fan shroud?? if so those "T" off to each carb. From the back of the "T" it runs to the right side of the engine bay where there is a pipe about 1.5" in diameter on the lower right that it connects to. I removed mine when I switched to K&N airfilters. Craig www.bay912.org |

Hi Craig,
Thanks!! I guess the small line that I'm seeing out of the oil can must have hooked into the carbs on the breather at one time...mine has the small aftermarket air cleaners so it no longer has a place to connect...which explains why I couldn't find a place for it... As for the heating question...if you look below the pasenger side carb the is a port coming out of the engine sheetmetal, also towards the rear of the car there are two more ports(one on each side)coming out of the sheetmetal...inside the passenger side rear fenderwell is one more port that appears to go into the chassis. All of these are about 1 1/4 inch openings. I know on the old Bugs there were a couple of flexible hoses connected to the fan shroud to direct warm air into the cabin...I assume this must be the same type of setup...I'm just not certain of which port to connect to which to route the airflow...or if that one port in the fenderwell is actually supposed to carry the warm air into the cabin...are we talking about the same parts...I'll try to get some pics of it tonight and post them tomorrow... Thanks,

I beleive those are a form of carb heater lines, blows warm air on the base of the carbs. I have seen different arrangments on different year 912's.
