Our dear Midge(67 912) is in need of a generator. We are slowly giving her back some life. So far it's cost us around $5000. She is being stubborn in accepting any advances from (generators) other than what she needs, which we are having trouble finding (101 206 113). I understand it is a "small diameter 25amp" generator, no longer made. So, what to do? I am new to the Porsche enthusiast life. My technician is trying his best, but...well we all need some help some time. Any suggestions would be appreciated. FYI: Midge (my wife's car, as she calls it) is in great condition otherwise. She was bought from a loving family. No rust, well maintained and gone through for daily driving. We love her, she is great to drive!
Anyhow, thanks. ![]() |

These generators are fully rebuldable - if you haven't, contact a shop that specializes in generators/alternators and give them a try - it's the easiest solution.
Another solution would be to purchase an alternator kit for the car - straightforward installation and you'll have a modern charging system. Next would be to find all the bits and pieces for the later, larger generator - it'd be easiest to find someone scrapping a later motor and just buy the entire assembly from front pulley to cooling fan including the mounting stand. Good luck, Bill |

Location: Placerville, CA.... You know, the only place on Highway 50 between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe the you find signal lights. Above the fog most of the time and I can see the stars of the Milky Way 8 out of 10 nights. Kinda cool.....

I just had my generator rebuilt by a shop in Auburn, CA. Parts and labor was only $59.00. I also paid $79.00 for a 911 alternator overhaul too.
Great shop to check out if your in NorCal. ![]()

Another option is alternator conversion. Check out Paula Golus' car on 912BBS.
