Looking for engine number 752128
I am trying to find my original engine for my 67 912. I was thinking maybe there are others that might be looking for theirs as well. Lets start an engine finding tread. If you or someone you know has engines laying around. I am looking for engine # 752128.
Thanks ![]()

Hi Jerry,
I've enjoyed your build thread. Thanks for sharing. A while back I saw someone selling 912 engine cases and in the background I could see he had at least thirty of them stacked on shelves in the background. I will hunt that down and get back to you. Take care |

Thanks The color is a custom color designed to be close to Porsche metallic blue but has some peril. The engine # is 750266.

hi
available good/suitable technology for a "new" engine number. I think, this half illegal..or not? the cost about 200$... Need the front third cover(location of number).

Lets be clear here; slapping on a 3rd piece of the case with a "correct" number does not make an original engine.
It does pass the "numbers matching" test. But would you say that out loud?

I have an Australian delivered 1965 912. When I bought the car 5 years ago it did not have the original engine.
Porsche Australia told me the engine I have (746204) is from a USA delivered 1966 912. |

I've been thinking about the whole process of trying to find an engine that matches the chassis number. Is that realistically possible? Under what conditions would someone remove their motor and replace it? To whom would they sell it considering it was likely blown and worthless in the day went 912s were not worth anything?
Of course, all of this occurred under previous owners so it is mostly impossible to know the answer. Is finding their original motor something anyone has actually achieved? Any thoughts on the probability of finding their original? If, by some miracle, you did find an owner with the motor how would you determine the fair price? BTW, my numbers do not match and I can't imagine that my original motor (1282366) is out there. If I did find it would I pass up my '65-numbered motor that I just had overhauled for $10K+ and why unless I had a show car? Just wondering.

That should be correct as I have a 912 built 8/5/66 with # 750782 titled as a 67 .
