Front brake cooling

I was wondering if anyone makes the brake cooling dust shields for the 3" calipers? If not, is there any reason why a set would not work or be beneficial for the 3" setup? Thanks.

Unless you are racing. There should never be a need for these.

Which one of these are you refering to? Dust shields behind the caliper, or the product refered to in the link?

The dust shield. I've seen replacement shields that have a scoop to pull in more air. I doubt Ill ever drive hard enough to need it, but I'm the kind of person who like to overbuild. Plus everything is apart now and its the best time to add that sort of thing if Im ever got ng to.. Ive also seen the shims. They make sense logically, just not sure how well they'd actually work.

Driving high mountain passes in Colorado definitely puts a lot of stress on the stock solid rotors and stock calipers. Driving from 12,000 feet down to 7 or 8000 feet aggressively you can feel the brakes start to fade. Do it several times in a short period and a brake upgrade and or the ability to cool them down is a good thing I think. In these situations I found the stock brakes were marginal at best.

I used to live in Lone Tree CO and then Pueblo for a while (across the highway from the racetrack). There are some amazing roads out there with very few people... i went through several sets of pads/rotors when I lived out there in a mazda I had at the time. Either way, I've found a few of the duct systems, but theyre all setup for the 3.5" strut housings. Is there anyone that makes them in the 3"? I have the Brembo 3" calipers from an 80's alfa, just like yours that I'm going to run with some slotted brembo rotors. I guess worst case I could just buy a set of the dust shield with the hose inlet and drill out the 3" spacing, then just add my own ducts and tubing. At the absolute least could even fab my own dust shields with the air inlet.

Also, I get the logic behind the shims with the increased surface area for heat transfer and all, but I don't think thats the rout I want to go.

Brett,
I think for us 3.0 guys it's a DIY project whether adapting someone else's product or making something from scratch.
I had to trim my dust shields to fit with the Brembo's. I suppose I could hole saw them and have a tube welded on the backside. That's basically what the other products are or close to it. Let us know what you come up with.
Chris
