Seat subframe issue

Hi

I have a question for the porsche specialists out here.

I'm in the process of fitting a pair of cobra rs seats in my car. I ordered seats and frames for my 1967 912 from cobra

Long story short, they haven't sent me frames that are fitting for my car. Well, thats what i thought, at first.....

Basically, my car is too wide, as far as seat rail bolting distance between the center tunnel and rocker panel.

I thought 912 = 911 as far as the body goes ?

At Cobra they have never come across such a situation, and needless to say, they've tricked out A LOT of Porsches over the years.

Any info on this issue ? This is maximum weirdness as far as I'm concerned.

Your Cobra seats may be for a later model. Pelican sells the adaptors to make them fit:

Hi

The seats are Cobra RS, replicas of the Recaro nurburgring, but the issue is with the seat adapter frames that i ordered for my car that are not lining up with the screwholes in the chassis.

They do not have any reference of the dimensions of my car, which i find weird because that means that it would be the first 901 type chassis that they have been asked to make subframes for ?

Early cars had narrower spaces between the seat rails. The adaptor plates enable you to use later, highback, seats. I believe the change occurred in '74. Install the plates (or order the correct sliders) and you're new seats will fit. I had to do this when I installed BMW E21 Recaro's in my '68 SWT.

The 911 and 912 seats of the same year are interchangeable.

You will need a adapter plate from the rails to fit the contact points in the car. you may have to drill new holes in the adapter plate to fit it to the car. Their (Cobra) seats are for the wider Porsches. Even the Recardo's did go from Ferrari, to Alfa, to Porsches without changing the rails or used adapter plates.

I doubt that very few early cars used their seats. Most have used/purchased, in the 912/911 community, seats from these folks. GTS Classic Seats. They have been selling to Porsche owners for over 15 years. They should have the rails that would fit your car. However, I don't know it they would fit you Cobra seats. Even though they do have the same style of Nurburgring Recardo's

Porsche seats - leather car seats - custom car seats - Recaro car seats - classic car seats
