What's The Trick?
Installing new rubber trim around the rear Targa roll bar edge.
Had to pull the lower rear window metal trim ends out of the rubber window seal a little bit, about 6". How do I get them to stay back in the rubber groove?? Do I have to remove the entire trim strip, clean out the rubber groove and rubber cement the strip back in place?? I thought it was just pushed into the rubber groove not glued. Probably the same problem for the windshield trim. Anybody, Help! Thanks, Ron D

Not sure, but I understand, trim and rubber are together BEFORE the window is installed. And the trim has to be in the right shape. Brett |

You would not belive how many beers it took me to figure out that you cannot put the trim back in with the window in. You must install it with the window out. I did get about half of mine in using soap and a rubber mallet but then it started to bend the alum trim, I ripped it out, had another beer and said screw it. It dont look too bad without it. Someday next winter with nothing to do Ill pull the rear window out and do it right. I think the problem is that once you start to bend the trim it wont stay in and the only way you can install it without bending it is to do it with the glass out. Oh, same with the front windscreen but thats a lot eaiser than the rear.

The "Trick"
I figured out how to re-insert the metal trim ends into the lower rear rubber window gasket on my hard window Targa. Without taking the window out.
I inserted a small & thin 3/16" wide screwdriver blade from UNDER the trim and into the groove and gave it a slight twist to open it up then quickly pressed the trim into the opened groove. Did 1/2" increments until I reached the end of the trim. Them I went back with a piece of wood and rubber mallet to tap the trim deeper into the groove. This is OK for a small section of trim but not for the entire trim length unless you have more patience than I do. Thanks for your help. Ron D
