Throttle Body Gasket?
I pulled the throttle body off of my engine today to continue the cleaning process, and I noticed that there was no gasket between the throttle body and the top of the engine. Is this normal??
Thanks, ~Eric

Should be a gasket there between the TB and the plenum. Make one using the TB as a pattern out of gasket material from FLAPS.

In a pinch, you can even use the cardboard from a 6-pack of beer.

Eric,
Geoff is correct. I used the same method when reinstalling my throttle body on an new plenum box, and it works just fine. Of course you may prefer the 6-pack method - just depends on how clearly you want to see when cutting! (Hehe)

Might want to check again
Hey. you might want to check again. I pulled the throtle body on my '73 2.0 and thought the gasket was missing. Closer inspection showed that the 30 year old gasket had turned the same color and almost the same consistency as the Plenum. I had to scrape it off with a razor blade.

Yup, that's exactly what I found on my car. Except that I went and installed a gasket, causing a really massive vacuum leak. Then I went back in and checked more carefully...

To do it right, scrape the old hard gasket off the TB and use sand paper (#320) on a piece of glass. Sand the bottom of the TB flat then put it backon with the new gasket. I like a litttle sealer on both sides of the gasket. Won't leak abit!
