Transmissions and syncros?
Hi all,
I have a question about the transmission in my 914. I was wonderng if anybody knows what the syncros are made of? The reason I'm asking is this. My friend told me that GL-5 gear oil will damage bronze syncros. Does anybody know anything about this? I bought Castrol Syntec synthetic gear oil and it says that it is an API GL-5 gear oil. Is it safe to use this stuff, or should I get something else? I'd like to use Swepco, but it's imposible to find in Saskatchewan. I'm pretty ignorant in the area of transmissions, so anything that anybody could tell me would be a big help. Thanks in advance,
