starter not work help

AFTER TRYING TO START MY 72 IT WAS MAKING A THUNK SOUND FROM THE STARTER. THE CAR DID NOT START NOW ALL I HEAR IS THE STARTER CLICK LIKE THE SELINOID IS WORKING BUT THE MOTOR IS NOT TURNING. COULD THE PINION BE STUCK TO THE FLYWHEEL? OR COULD IT BE THE STARTER MOTOR ITSELF?

Depends on how long it sat for. If this is a new problem look for the Jim Thorsen (or is it Thourson???) article on the 914 starting system. Oh, nevermind, here's the link

This happened to me in my Dodge Stealth. When I tried to start the car, it make a clicking noise, but wouldn't crank. I took the starter off, ran juice to it, it seamed to work fine. What had heppened? My clutch shattered and jammed everything up so much that the starter didn't have the power to push it... Just an idea you might want to look into if your running out of them.
