Web Cam soild Lifters with or without oil holes
When I order my Web camshaft with a stock mechanical grind for a 2.056 liter engine build with factory fuel injection, do I want to order the Web solid lifters with or without oil holes?

No oil holes, no oil to the top end...
And no hydraulic lifters...how is oil getting pumped to the top end? No idea of the right answer, I'm simply pointing out that the top end is lubricated by oil being pumped by the hydraulic lifters, through the pushrod tubes, into the rocker assemblies and flowing out to the shafts, rockers, and valve guides. How will solid-follower cams account for that? |

I'd like to know the answer too. Just to verify, you're referring to the hole on the face contacting the cam?
I believe stock lifters did not have a hole. IIRC I read somewhere the stock oil pump falls a bit short on idle oil pressure with the hole. Does Web Cam have are recommendation? The last 9590 Raby kit I ordered had lifters with holes. |

I called Web-Cam regarding my application (2.056 liter with the a stock solid lifter cam for factory Fuel Injection) and they recommended the solid lifter number 00-265 without an oiling hole where the face of the lifter contacts the cam lobe.
The lifter with the oiling hole is part number 00-268. Please be aware the Web-Cam also makes a hydraulic camshaft for use with factory fuel injection. |

I didn't know that Web-Cam made lifters with holes in the lobes. I know that Scat does or did, but it didn't seem like the best idea to me. I don't have any data to back that up, just a (possibly irrational) gut feeling.
Stock solid lifters have a hole in the lifter cup, and one or two holes in the side. Pressurized oil makes its way into the lifter through the side hole, out the lifter through the hole in the cup, and through the hollow pushrod to the rocker box. I think hydraulic lifters have a similar layout, but they also have internal valving that deals with the valve clearances and such, and look fairly different. --DD
