Side shifter trans on early engine q's

Hello!

I just finished installing a side shifter transaxle on a 71' motor. The 71'motor still has the original mounting bar installed. Do I need to switch over to a late model mounting bar or can I get away with the 71' bar?

The early bar will interfear with the late side shift linkage. You will have to install the late model bar, the late model support brackets that attach to the front of the engine and the late model engine mounts. You will also have to get a special larger engine firewall bushing in order to not have a lot of linkage slop. Auto Atlanta and some others sell this specal bushing.
