Tail shift black plastic box
Hi Guys,
Does anyone have a clue where I can get hold of the black plastic box that clips around the end of the shift rod on a tail shifter? Porsche Germany doesn't have them and they are NLA from Pelican. Any used but still ok ones out there? Howie |

hmmmm..... don't have experience with tail shifters but you're not talking about the black cover over the shifting stuff on a side shifter are you? there is a black cover about 6"x4" x about 3 " deep on a side shifter. it has rounded corners, slightly convex face. don't remember a cover on a tail shifter but like i said.... no experience with tail shifters...

The one on a tail-shifter is smaller, and more squared-off.
Try all your favorite used Porsche parts places. --DD

I've never seen one on a 4 cylinder tail shifter. I just removed one from my 6 cylinder, but I doubt they are the same.
I'll post this in a different thread, but...Dude. Forget about finding a replacement cover. Do the sideshift conversion. I literally finished mine today on the 6. It shifts like a different car. I am amazed at how well the car shifts now. It still isn't perfect, but I am so much closer to perfection! A little adjust here, a tweak there.... James

Thanks guys, its on a 6 which must retain the same gear shift linkage because I race it as a classic in tarmac rallies. I'll keep looking but there aren't any used 914 parts shops down here!!

Well, as we've pointed out in the "other" thread, Automobile Atlanta does sometimes have stuff that all others do not. I would give them a try as well.
