emergency flasher switch broken

Hey everybody, I'm having trouble with my turn signals on my 73' 2.0, they don't work at all, but I have noticed that with the key off I can hit the turn signal switch either up or down and the respective turn signal (front and back) will come on and stay on. I figured out that the emergency flasher switch has come apart. the black plastic piece that the wires connect to has come away from the metal box itself, so I've been trying to find a new one to order but everywhere that I have looked only has used ones. Does anyone know if a company makes any new ones or can I only take a chance and buy a used one? If I can only get a used one where would you recommend I purchase one from? I am also going to buy a flasher fuse just to be safe and hopefully my turn signals will work. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have used ones. There are two versions. One has an extra terminal on the side. They rarely fail as they get used very little. $20 shipped. Post a picture of yours if you can.

bdstone914 this is the switch that I have

I'm not sure if the images will upload I was having trouble getting the pictures to upload but I have the switch that has 7 wire connections on the top with one on the left side of the switch with 3 brown wires connected to it, so a total of 8 wire connections.

bdstone914, do you by chance know were the flasher fuse is? Is it up under the dash as well?

The flasher relay sits on top of the fuse block up above the driver's feet. I don't remember which fuse drives it.

Note that the turn signal coming on when the car is off and the lever is moved is designed-in "European-style parking light" behavior. The power in this case actually uses a different circuit through the turn signal switch and such than when the lights blink. So the behavior you mention likely means that there is a problem in the circuit that uses the flasher relay to send power to the turn signals.
