Engine harness rigging
Evidently I have some issues with my engine harness. I plug up the black/purple wire from on the coil and it kills my engine. Something is shorting in the wire evidently. I can direct wire it from the coil to the tach and it works. Also, the black and red wire looks messed up on the positive side of the coil.
Can I direct new wire from the coil to the outs on the relay board without going through the board or do I need them to go through it or other connections needed. I don't know of any other wires that need to be address in this harness. I converted from fuel injection to carbs. Thanks

Direct wiring is fine. The factory ran it through the relay plate just to have some easy harness disconnects (engine versus chassis harness).
Before going through too much trouble, you might verify the issue is not in the chassis harness part. If you wire it to the chassis-out 14-pin connector and the prob is in the chassis harness...if you find that the problem is in the engine harness, note Jeff Bowlsby rebuilds the stock harnesses. And do yourself and your next owner a favor: use a unique wire color and document the change in your workshop manual. |
