Porsche Crest 914/6 2.7??

I picked up a 2.7 and am thinking of installing in my 76 914. Any parts lists, or tech help would be appreciated! What do I need to do this, can CIS be used??
Thanks,
John Pedersen

Look in the 914 tech article section of PP for a conversion list and article.

Bwahahaha!

Welcome to the dark side...

----------

Seriously, the tech articles are a great place to start. Once you get started though, you'll end up doing a lot more than you planned Give this thread a try...a conversion thread cost discussion

For instance, I decided to go with PMO's (way cool) instead of sticking with the CIS. The PMO kit is great (and the support is beyond fantastic) and allows you to use you old fuel pump (I had a new pump from a '74 911). However, mine started buzzing like a Volvo pretty quickly (loud!), so I converted to a Mallory fuel system (can't hear it at all). I also tried to get by without mounting an external oil cooler, but hot day (80+) engine temps were getting too close to "to damn hot," so I'm putting one in now. And then there's. . . .

Well, you get the idea! I'll post my list here for all to see -- including mistakes -- or I can email it to you.

Again, welcome to the most enjoyable money pit!

John,

Yes, the CIS can work in a 914, but it is not easy to fit. IMHO, I would go with a set of carbs or aftermarket FI system.

Figure about $1000-2000+ for the stuff needed to finish the conversion. Also, a front mounted oil cooler will run you another ~$1K with SS AN12 lines

John,

IMHO, (In My Humble Opinion)
Before I installed the 3.2, I first installed a '82 CIS 3.0 motor. The FI system was a big challenge to plumb and the fit was really close since I did not wish to cut the rear trunk. It took me a bunch of time to sort out the details. Carbs would have made the whole process much easier.
