Help with better distributor
Guys I am running a 912E Type 4 motor with dual real Weber 40 IDFs, currently have a 009 with Empi electronic mod instead of the points. A local guy has a Bosch 0-231-172-019 distributor for sale and didn't know if this would work as a replacement for the 009 in my setup. Does anyone have some knowledge on this or a suggestion?

It's a Bus distributor. It should work. Don't know how the advance curve compares to the stock 914 ones, though.
If you're willing to throw more money at the problem, 123 Ignition makes a brand-new distributor (ZERO WEAR!) with electronic points (so they don't wear) and programmable advance. --DD

The Bosch distributor 0 231 129 022 will match the advance curve of your Type4 912e engine.
It is a centrifugal advance distributor like the 009, and will drop right in. The 022 was original equipment on 1967 912’s. |

I have the 123 and love it. It made sooo many little niggling annoyances disappear. :-)
