high idle after pretronix install.
i put a new coil and pretronix pointless system on my 1.7 and now it idles high. i haven't set the timing on it yet but it does run really good except it idles at 1800-2000. will this go away when the timing is set or do you think i'm developing a vaccuum leak. any thoughts/suggestions would be great! thanks everyone!

Set the Timing!! You are supposed to do that after the install

Tweak the distributor position until the idle is at the RPM that it used to be before you installed the Pertronix. I bet at that point you'll find that you are dead on the timing, or at least very close.

My experience is that the TDC point is different with the pointless systems. You are probably advanced several degrees at this point. Get out the light and do it right!

It's also normal to get a dwell reading that's about 54 degrees.
