914 1.7L Timing Question

Hello all

I have a 1972 914 1.7L that I have recently done a top end rebuild on and put back together. I relashed all the valves and thought that I had done everything right and set the timing correct. All 4 cylinders have good compression. However, I can get the car to fire, but it is only firing on 2 cylinders, one from each side. Wires are hooked up correct, there is spark, and the injectors are pulsing properly.

Just curious if anyone has any thoughts to try before I rerun through everything.

Thanks!

The most immediate things that come to mind are the plug wires and the valves. If the plug wires are swapped, you may only run on 2. Likewise, if you had the engine on TDC for the wrong cylinders, you might only have two of them firing. I'd double check those first.
