Floor Pan questions
Sometime this weekend i am going to be grinding out the floor pans, i was wondering where the welds are so i can grind around them and then sand them down. Is that a good technique, if so can some one inform me as to where to start grinding

The pans are spot welded mostly from the underneath. The crossbrace is welded from the top as are the seat brackets.
If you are trying to clean up the pans remove the tar sound deadening first with a heat gun. They put a wire brush on your grinder to remove all the old paint. Then grind out any rusty spots. Geoff

*sigh* front and back, i was gonna buy the left and right from tweeks but they raised the price to about $300 and they failed to update it in their magazines. Nehow i went ahead and bought the front and back from PP, they were suppose to be here last friday, its now almost thursday, i was suppose to get a weld job tuesday but they never came, so now i am greatly pissed...someone can expect a phone call fairly soon. Will the front and back fit right? or will they be loose?

If they are from PP they will fit right if you do all the prep work right. You need to use a spot weld cutter to remove all of the old pans. Cut out the spot welds first around the perimeter. You can see them after you wire wheel off the undercoating and paint.
Grind everything smooth and clean for a good weld and fit. Drill 1/4" holes in the new pans every 4" to fill weld so the pans look halfway orginal. Test fit and tack weld both pieces on before welding everything up. Transfer the seat brackets to the new pans. When you are done the pans will fit and look factory if you take your time. It helps to get the car as high in the air as possible so you aren't on your back with the pans 2' from your face. Geoff ![]()
