clutch problem?

i've been experiencing an annoying problem with my clutch lately, if I let the clutch out while the car is rolling it will buck and shudder, but doesn't do this from a dead stop only rolling stops.

any ideas?

thanks,
matt

You'll have to down shift and get the revs higher as this is probably due to a large mis-match in engine speed and transmission speed.

this only happens when i'm rolling and starting out in first, so i can't shift to a lower gear. if i'm pointed downhill at a stoplight and the car coasts forward as i let the clutch out or any other situations like that, where i'm already moving as i let the clutch out in first gear.

Lightbulb Here is a thought

I think I would check trans mount bolts. I think something about the alignment of the clutch to the pres. plate is effected when you are in motion. I know that those bolts sometimes work back. Just seems possible...

Mine was doing that on lo speed acceleration (like lugging in a gear). Changed spark plugs wires - problem solved - Seriously!

Chatterbox, apply more gas, hold it at 3000k when you go.

Still happen?

If you launch low all the time, you may end up with chatter marks on your disc, that wears it prematurely. I ride the clutch in 1st..

The way you described letting out the clutch scared me, that's all.. you need the revs in the middle, you let out smoothly and increase gas... keeping your revs.. right?

Cheapie Bosch Platinums strike again... Don't buy them, they're junk IMHO. Use the Bosch Coppers instead. A much better plug.

Thumbs up Copper core plugs and Magna core wires

Funny how your percwptions lead you- clutch perception becomes ignition problem. Gotta echo Dave's last note. I pitched my platinums and got the bosch copper plugs and a set of magnacore wires from our host, and it really made a diff. I know changing plugs is a chore. I've lost a few into the tin before. To me the big challenge is removing the plug wrench (actually socket) after screwing in the new plug. I drilled a hole in the socket so I can hook it with a piece of wire or a small hex wrench (held with vice-grips) then pull it out. Next time you do your plugs, you should go with the coppers.
