she's bare
a few shots of the car this morning when it was delivered from the blasters to the bodyshop. thankfully there's not too much pre-existing bodywork; you know it is an import (from LA). hopefully in two weeks I'll be re-posting with bright Viper yellow.

Weird mix of Olympic Blue and yellow, there.... Do you know which one is original to the car? Or is it a car that has been pieced together?

No piecing together, just a lot of changes through time. Olympic Blue is the original, but I've read a bunch of times here that the yellow ones are faster, hence the change. Purchased in SEP2000 in LA, shipped to Michigan and I've been working the mechanicals and driving it since. Almost no rust; replaced battery tray, rear trunk half, and a couple of small holes at the corne of the cowling where it meets the fender. That damn welting holds dirt and moisture pretty well! The three layers of paint were Olympic Blue, a metallic burgundy, and finally the yellow that you see in the trunk. I had them plastic media blasted off the car. When I'm done it will be mostly yellow except for the spots where something covers it (like the backpad in the cockpit); trunks will be grey speckle finish. I chose the Viper Yellow because I liked it just a bit more than the original colors, and the thing is hardly going to be worth a ton of money so originality wasn't a thought. I'm eager to see how it turns out. wd

The paint job on those OE steel wheels caught my eye. Would wierd be a good discription? They remind me of something you would see in a sci-fi movie, maybe Death Race 2000. Unusual. I'm guessing they went with the metallic burgundy phase?
By the way, I had this type steel wheel on my car originally, but in bland solid silver! Mike |

Those wheels were put on just for the bead blasting and painting. The funky paintwork steelies were purchased locally, 3 for $20, and with the one black one that's the original spare I'll have a set of track wheels. For everyday driving I have a set of Rivieras and Michelin XZX 165-15s. I wish I had waited, but when I first got the car in 2000 it had terribly dry-rotted tires and I decided to get 'original' size tires. Plus, the wrong back-spacing EMPIs on the car wouldn't fit anything wider. Anyhow, that's how it goes, live and learn. I'll stop and see the car after a meeting tomorrow in Detroit, so hopefully the colorcoat pics will be ready then.
