oil filter size 914-6 question- puzzler
Hello,
Bought a newish to me 914 with 3.0 liter engine with an oil tank installed. Tank custom stainless. Can't figure out what oil filter fits the oil filter plate that's mounted on the tank. An OC28 filter has the right 17mm threads but the filter is too small capacity wise. The base size of that filter looks correct. I need the larger (longer)filter. Tried OC 54 filter but the tread size was incorrect. Any clue what OC filter is correct? Of course I don't know who manufactured the filter plate that mounts on the tank. I called pelican but they don't have thread size specs for the oil filters. Ok experts!!! Any ideas here? Thanks, Todd |

If the tank is custom, the filter could be anything. Best to contact the manufacturer of the tank.

Yes zztot you are correct!
Found a web site out of the UK that has measurements/ specs for oil filters. The OC61 has the 3/4" thread size spec which is the same thread size as the OC28. Just a taller canister. FYI although the threads measure at 17.something mm, it's called 3/4" by the manufacturer. That spec is a little over 1/16" larger than the actual measurable size which is a little strange. The OC61 part has been replaced by the OC 59 which Pelican sells. Ordering two today. Porsche part number 901-107-203-09 |
