Mike95125 has been receiving an unending bag of crap from a whole lot of people for trying this. I'm sure he will chime in in a few seconds here.
I think the project is intriguing as hell. Do a search in the archives to see what he has done so far. He's still assembling parts and it seems that common sense and the protestations of the Porsche (AKA VW) faithful don't seem to be dissuading him.

There's a book on e-bay right now that details putting a corvair motor in a VW or porsche.

Just my two cents, but a Corvair motor will not work unless you split the motor and change the cam so the motor will run in the opposite direction. These motors also use RUBBER main bearings, no joke.

These don't look like RUBBER to me.

couldn't you use the engine as is and flip your differential, seems easier than reversing the engine rotation.

Or use a 911 901 transmission, already flipped, right?

Yes, you can flip the differential. Even Jake Raby has done this.....
Ask about his 60 mph run...backwards... James

Man, I step away for a couple of days to maintain my grades and this is what I came back to find....."Rubber main bearings" ???!!! LMAO
Anyway, ya Im doing this (in the prosess). It is easy. All that needs to be done if you dont flip your diff. is to purchase a reverse cam/and gear set. I know where to get them for about $90 for the gears, and $169 for the cam. It is practically a throw in, unless you are like me and have to tweek with everything. I am putting a 911 like shroud of my own construction on it, and am using a 911 fan. I have a spare adapter for sale too.. Thanks for to re enforcement Herb!

I heard that if you run a corvair engine in reverse rotation satanic messages come out of the tail pipe (like a record)

I may be mistaken, but as I recall, the Corvair 140HP was supercharged to achieve the 140HP. It was in the Corsa. I dont think you can get 140 HP without a turbo or supercharger. It just seems like a lot of trouble to go to. Just my 2 cents.

Stck they came in 90 and 110 HP, add the turbo and it bumped it up to the 140. I am looking into it now. In fact, I may even buy one if I can find one at a decent price. It would have to be the Corsa 140HP convertible though. There is one for 12,500 buy it now in Hollywood. I think he can keep it for that much. They were not that great of cars.

It was called the Monza Spyder and it was turbocharged - had a single Carter sidedraft feeding it.

I knew Ron would know, I think he knows everything about the old cars. Hey Ron, where can I pick up a corsa convertible with the turbo for around $500.00?

There was a guy in Ontario, Ca that had about 200 Corvairs, but I don't know where he went to. The next question would be
WHYProfessor 914 knows nothing!
