More tailshift woes
Okay, v8 conversion is done. I am having some difficulty changing gears. In fact, It appears that the car is will not change gears. I replaced the cup bushing, firewall bushing and rear slider bushing ( the one on the rear support ) and it still has problems. Is there a bushing in the tunnel between the firewall and the ball cup? If there is, mine doesn't have it, does anyone have a good way to replace it? Is there a way to know what gear you are in by looking at the shift lever in the tranny? Where is neutral? I am still not sure if te problem is the tranny or shifter.
thanks Update: The Tranny appears to be stuck in the gate between 2nd and 3rd. I can drive foreward. I pulled the shift rod off and tried to shift with a pair of vise grips on the trans , rocking the car as I shifted. The trans will go from a lower gear into a higher one, but I cannot achieve the "pattern". The gear selector on the trans will not move full laterally and I can't seem to hit neutral. thanks Last edited by marks914; 06-30-2003 at 02:39 PM.. |
