Cracked fuchs

*&%$##!!!!

I think I have to reliquish my award for the most reliable car on the baja run.

It looks like 3 of my wheels are cracked.

They are the 2.0L alloys, not replicas.

Crap.

I took some pics with a buddy's camera a few minutes ago, I'll post them as soon as he gets them off the camera.

Anyone got some steel wheels I can borrow?

I have 2 sets of steel wheels you can have for cheep, Where are you? I also have some polished Riviera's. 200 for all of them if you pick them up.. I also may want one of the wheels if you are going to get rid of them. I went to 5 lug...

Man that sucks!

I'm in Santa Monica...kind of a drive but I'll keep it in mind for the steels.

If you are desperate I have a set of centerlines with tires that have a decent amount of tread. Not sure if I have all the bolts though. Last I looked I had half or so.

They are 4 lug Fuchs, not repros.

Tony, centerlines? What are those? I don't need the tires. What kind of lugs do they require? I have a set of original lugs.

What year is your car? I have a set of 5 Pedrinis which I believe will work on your car. You have the lug bolts for alloys, so you won't need mine. If you go with the steel wheels or the empi's, you will need non alloy lug bolts.

Also, what are you running for tires?

Centerlines are the "pizza pan" wheels. Solid the whole way around.

I can't see any cracks in that last image, BTW. Might have missed it scrolling back and forth.

Really sucks, though!!! Do you know if these wheels have been abused in any way, or just "well loved", or treated like treasured children, or ???

It would be very interesting to have a failure analyst check them over to see what the root cause was. Poor grain structure initiallly (unlikely due to forging), age and wear, fatigue cycles, abuse, something else?

I'm very sorry to hear this!

James, I'd love to take you pedrinis. I'm running 185s at the moment and I think they'll fit wonderfully. For the steels, I do have a set of lugs sitting in my tool box.

I'm actually supposed to go Down to SD next week for work even.

What do you want for them?

Dave, I've had them for about a year and I for them from Malms up just north of me for a song. They were looking a bit tired then and I spent some long hours polishing them up.

I honestly don't know if they're abused or just loved, they'll make good ornaments I guess.

I got Red's Pedrini's on the wire for me, but we're worried they won't fit.

I see in the wheel's 101 article that the early ones won't fit the later cars.

Anyone know how to tell if they are early or late?

Mike:

I believe the Pedrinis had two OE - one ending in 00 and the other in 01 -The O1 is what you would need to clear the hub centering ring on the late front rotor.

OR

You could get a machine shop to machine out da hole in da center.

BTW - the EMPIs are 914 offset (I took them off the faster yellow rusty 2.0 and replaced them with Fuch.)

Here's what I found on the difference between the later and the early.

James...tell me you have the one on the right.

So Ron, I want the ones ending in 00?

And...do you have a shop that would make the modification for me?

Dave? Anything from you on these?
