Craftsman air tools - Great deal on e-bay
Correct me if I am wrong, but if you bring a broken Craftsman tool back to sears they will give you a new one??
If so this is a hell of a deal for someone: Hope this helps someone out~ ~Eric

That's not true on all items. Somethings - like electrical tools - you have to buy the lifetime warranty. I think it was $20 for my Sawzall. I taped the receipt to the inside of the carrying box...
$20 for an extended warranty? Forget it! $20 for a _lifetime_ warranty? I'll take it. James

The way I always understood it was like this.
Craftsman tools have a lifetime warrany. if they ever break you can take them back for a new one. Well, almost new. usually, they have a box of rebuilt tools from which they will give you a replacement, you have to ask for new tools. Most times, they will oblige. I've never had a problem taking back broken tools. (i've done it many times) You dont even need a reciept. Just be cool to the guy behind the counter and you should be ok. Most times, you will get an improved version of the tool you are returning. After 35 years, my dad's Craftsman torque wrench finally broke, I took it back to Sears and got a new one free of charge. We are talking a $120 torque wrench just handed to me. One thing I used to do when I was a teenager was go to garage sales around town and ask if they had tools. I'd score a bunch of Craftsman stuff, anything broken I'd take back and get tools. |

I was a little upset a few weeks ago w/Sears. My 3/8 ratchet broke so I took it in. They looked through the 'used' box, but couldn't find one(thankfully). Went to the new ratchets and there weren't any there either.
They had an upgraded model but wanted to charge me the difference. It was only a few bucks, but my principles wouldn't allow that. I said 'No way, let me talk to the manager'. Manager did another search in the new tools and found one in the wrong spot. Made the trade and off I went. Still, they almost did me wrong on a broken Craftsman tool.

I'm pretty sure that applies to "hand" tools only. i.e. not air or electric tools.

We had a pretty big fire here a few years back. We lost over 500 homes.
The local Sears was balking at the instant return policy on the hand tools. The locals are still pretty pi$$sed off about it.
