Has anyone replaced the air intake box with a K&N setup? I was wiondering if is worth the cost and is there any increase in performance ? thanks

Doing that will only increase performance by making your wallet lighter.

Actually, I know a few people who have replaced the entire air cleaner box with a simple K&N cone filter sitting directly on the throttle body. There did seem to be a bit more power. And locally, the Neidel family runs their race-only car (D-jet 2.0, Euro pistons, full headers) with nothing on top of the throttle body at all. They say it makes a bit more power that way, and they have enough experience for me to believe.

This has been covered many times in the past. Do a search, and you will probably find that the consensus says they are not worth it. It might be worth it if you fabricate your own, but dont pay the big bucks from that ebay guy 9xauto, or whatever his name is
