FINALLY!!! Pics of the 6

Well, after 6 years of driving this car I have finally acquired some digital photos to share with the internet world. Hope you enjoy my car as much as I do.

A special thanks to Jack Olsen for resizing the pics for me.

Not really a pic of the car ...

EDIT: Oh, the pics suck because they were taken at the top of the afternoon. Sorry.

Can't ... I have a lot of work to do. Monday is vlave adjustment, oil change and change-the-points day, too. Maybe next time. I will, however, be up at the German AutoFest in Ventura ... I'll be in the R Gruppe Corral.

I'm actually the subject of their ridicule ... but that's because they can't keep up with me through the corners and they don't know any other way to react

Also, my dad and I were allowed in as a father/son team ... I am the exception to the R Gruppe bylaws.

What no money pic!!!!! I wanted to see the 2.4! Car looks great. How do you like the 2.4S, do you run an external oil cooler?

It's MFI, there's nothing to see but a big 'ol air cleaner. Next time I've got 'er up in the air - Monday - I'll take a picture of the bottom. Now that I think about it, I'm doing a valve adjust on Monday so I'll have the air cleaner off then, too. I'll take a top shot without the air cleaner for ya.

No external cooler. I've got big pulleys so I'm turning the fan pretty fast ... rarely see more than 180, even in San Fernando Valley heat while sitting in traffic. At Streets of Willow the temps never got about 230/240, and by that time the session was over.

The 2.4S is a great motor, but I still don't think it makes enough torque. I kinda have to spin 'er up to get the car to move ... a 2.7S would be PERFECT. At 4000, though, this f***er comes alive like a Banshee on Meth all the way to 8000 ... but I just put a 7200 limiter in to make sure she keeps on living till I pop for the JE Pistons and 7R case.

PS: I just did a decent photo shoot so I'll post more pics soon. I haven't stroked my ego this much since high school ... SHEEESH.

EDIT: It's also got a Carrera 3.0 oil-pump and some "top secret" cooling tricks.

No, a 2.7S would be lame. The power dropped back to about 160, down from the 190 you have. Torque wasn't improved that much either, as I recall.

Now a 2.7 RS motor, that would be nice!! Just about the same thing as your 2.4S, but with an extra ~300cc... Yeah!

Porsche Crest The Plan

The 2.7S that I would build would be ANYTHING but lame. It would be a 10.5:1 motor with MFI, notched barrels, ground main webs, etc. RS Spec w/S grind cams essentially.

In reality however, that 2.7S may never happen for one major reason ... my dad is going to give me his 11:1 compression 2.8RSR twin-plug motor when he finishes his injected 3.2 twin-plug. It's a factory RSR motor ...

That's the plan. And it is more a reality than popping for a set of new JE pistons ... it's free, the pistons cost $$$.

Heh. Then it's not a 2.7 S motor, is it? Definitely not lame.

I'd be curious to see the details of the MFI installation in the 914-6. I thought about going that route with my car, but (a) it seemed fairly complicated and (b) POC just kills you on rules for induction changes. I am getting killed enough already by their rules compared to the 911's.

Chris: When I had the 2.2S motor I ran it with Webbers. They were nothing but trouble 90% of the time ... but, man, when they were on there was nothing better. For racing, I would much rather go the Webber route - which you have - because you can make more HP. My decision to switch to MFI was based on the fact that I wanted a turn-key car ... high-performance tuned Webbers are too high strung for daily driving. The MFI is f***ing stone reliable. If you're interested in how my dad and I made it work, swing by in the pits and check it out. I think all we had to do was add 1 fuel line and mount the pump in the engine compartment - firewall, behind the passenger.

As for POC rules ... well ...

Rusty:Dad's a Porsche mechanic ... I've been leaning on him to "donate" that motor to the cause for the past ten years. I think I finally cracked the armor.
