During cleaning my CV joints, I noticed some difference between left and right set.
With one pair, inner race would extend out much further (i.e. over 1/2" out of cage.) The other two, only about 1/4" or so. All moves very freely and inner/ outer race orientation is right. I noticed that cages have slightly different ID, and some cage have larger ID in one side (i.e. you can only put the inner race through from larger ID side), and some the same both side. I do not see a lot difference in wear causing this. Anybody knows what is going on? They were all working fine, but after going through previous posts about CV, I may need to replace one or two as I saw little more than 'polished' groove. Also can we mix and match CV components? Thanks.
