Trick for replacing the oil pressure switch
I need to replace my stock oil pressure switch. I really don't want to pull the intake runners and the cooling tin, but my socket won't fit through the hole. There's got to be a trick to it. A little help?? Someone?? Anyone???

Oil pressure switch? The one by the distributor? Shouldn't be any access problems, except for some wires and hoses.
If your socket won't fit through the access hole, make sure it's the right size socket. 24mm deep-well, I think? If it won't fit, then find another socket. The ones for smaller ratchets tend to have thinner walls and smaller overall diameters, so try stepping down on that. The sender shouldn't be in that tight, so you may have some luck grabbing the flats with a pair of needle-nose vise grips or something similar. But I think a better idea is getting another socket. --DD

Yes, it is the one by the distributor. I was using a socket for a 1/2" drive. That's probably where I got hung up. I tried the needle nose, but I couldn't get it to turn.
Thanks. |

I went out and bought a 1/4" drive deep socket for this. I bought a standard one (not metric) because it was the essentially the same size yet a few bucks cheaper at Sears.
13/16" comes to mind (I could be totally wrong on that, it's been a while) but you really should bring your new sender and see what fits.

24mm = 15/16ths or close enough that you don't have to buy 24mm.
