My new d-jet tester.

I was waiting for months for one of these to come up on ebay. It even comes with the user's manual. Woo hoo!

$455 USD. Do a search on ebay for "VW1218" or "d-jetronic tester" and then click the "save this search" button on the results page. Then go to "my ebay" and configure it so that ebay emails you when a matching item is listed.

Congrats. If you run into any problems with operation, let me know. I have one, too. It's a great tester, very comprehensive and takes only a few minutes to completely evaluate the system with it.

BTW, while I paid less than $455 for mine, I'm in it WAY more than that for all the testers I've bought off of Ebay, so...... I feel your pain I paid about the same each for two EFI Associates testers, and neither one works and I have yet to figure out what's wrong with them...

Is there a unit that will test the L-Jet system? That'd be cool!

I've read somewhere, maybe it was on your site Brad, that the VW1218 does not work "fully" with the later cars. Can someone eloborate on this?

There are a couple of tests on the '75-'76 cars that may/may not come up with odd results, due to the ECU on those models having a more sophisticated overrun shut-off circuit. But the major tests of all of the system sensors (static and dynamic, including the MPS), wiring harness, injectors, and all the other ECU sections works fine. I base this on using the VW1218 on a bench setup of the '75-'76 system, using a 0 280 000 052 ECU.

Thanks Brad! I searched for a VW1218 unit based on what you told me in our email conversation a few months ago.
