Fuch offset and tire size
Like most "teeners" I'd like to see the fattest tires possible on my car without modifying my wheel wells. After reading several posts, I understand that tire clearances will vary depending on tire size and rim offset. The optimum combination appears to be a 205/60-15's mounted on factory Fuchs. I have a set of American Eagle "fake Fuchs". They have a "back spacing" (distamce from of rim's inboard tire bead to rim's mounting surface) of 4 ¾". How does this compare to factory Fuch back spacing?
Also are there any recommendations on 205/60-15's tire brands?

OEM Fuchs have a 4 7/8ths backset so they should work with the 195x60's

205s are hit-or-miss anyway, regardless of which wheel you have. Thankfully, on most 914s they miss... the fenders. (I.e., they fit on most 914s using stock wheels, but not on a few.) You've at least got a decent chance with those fake Fuchs.

I had 195/60/15's on the back of my '75. They were on fake Empi's . They fit with no problem. I recently changed these tires with the same size, but with a different brand and they "hit" hard. I think I will grind the horizontal lip away a bit. Pete
