Cool How I Spent My Time Off, by Scooter (Yes, P-content)

I'm ba-aaack, whether you all like it or not!
I got a mutated flu virus from outer space 2 days before Christmas (still sick too, ) and had a birthday (New Year's eve, woo-wee )

BUT I did a ton of stuff to the car :
I pulled the motor / tranny! I figured I'd just take it slow, and do a little at a time (really sick, but too bored and tired of lying in bed all week) so I started by un-doing the carbs, linkages, wiring, fuel, blahblah. That took, like, a total of half an hour..... So, I crawled under and took off the HEs and heat ductwork. I got dizzy, threw up a little, and figured "Hey, while I'm down here, I might as well try to take the whole thing out" At least I was lying down.....
I grabbed the jack, some plywood, took off the last 4 bolts, and amazed myself as I yanked the whole business out from under! How cool is that! who designed these things anyway? Freakin' Fisher- Price? I mean, a couple'a nuts and bolts, a plug or two, and the whole thing's out. Like a snap-together model when I was eight.
Time elapsed - about 3 hours, including dizzy spells and yakking up soup on the tarp.
Next day, still not satisfied, I FINALLY REPLACED MY REAR WHEEL BEARINGS! Bah, again, simple. Old ones popped out easily from behind, and new ones were gently tapped in with little fuss and a block of wood, after sitting in the freezer overnight. Same with the hubs - a little frosty, but a couple gentle taps, and 'zoom', right in. Very little effort.
I wasn't happy yet, so I took everything out of the engine bay, stripped off as much of the PO's undercoating, and painted the whole thing 'Hammer Paint' silver. Not concourse, (Sorry all CW's out there, but this is a daily driver, nyaaah nyaaaah ) but still clean looking and neat.
Next, I'll be taking some pix of the motor and exhaust to put on ebay later this week. Anyone need a clean 1.7, ready to bolt up?

Later Doods
Jeff

The first day of my summer vacation...

I went downtown..

to look for a job...

then I hung out in front of the drugstore..

I got the mutant flu as well..

Sounds good. Cant wait to see the pics. I did this about 4 months ago with my own 1.7, cleaned everything up, took care of all the leaves and dirt under the cooling tins, re-adjusted the valves, replaced some sensors, wires, hoses, etc...
