The Clymers (or Lash International) is good too, it shows different stuff from the Haynes.
There are photos of all the manuals on my Collectibles website at the link below, with brief write ups. |

yes, "all" the manuals and most everything you need is available on the internet.
workshop manuals at 914club.com/manuals (or something like that) parts diagrams there too and the AA website has diagrams you can print. PP has parts diagrams but i find they are a bit old but they are from the 914 workshop manual. (sorry...)

The only thing missing is the 914/6 wiring diagram, and a guy has created one.

Guys, please refrain from posting links to scanned copyrighted material here. I don't want to expose Pelican (or any other BBS) to the liability. You do know that lawyers from a certain car company do occasionally look through the Pelican Parts website, right??
Haynes is the book I use the most. About 85% of the info from the factory manual (word for word in most cases). Most or all of the pics in Haynes come straight from the factory manuals. It is a whole lot more portable than any form of the factory books, as well. Plus you don't feel guilty about paging through a $15 book with greasy dirty hands, unlike the $350 factory books. Haynes has B&W copies of the factory color wiring diagrams, with the colors labeled. New factory manuals, I am told, do not have the color diagrams any more--just B&W copies without color labels. But Pelican (among other sources) does have some of the color diagrams available. Click on "Electrical Diagrams" under 914 on the main Porsche page, and you'll get to this page: http://www.pelicanparts.com/914/914_electrical_diagrams.htm For 914-6 color wiring diagrams, order them from Art Zapf here: http://home.earthlink.net/~zipsix/ A copy of the original factory B&W diagram (useful, but just barely) can be found here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/914/parts/Electrical/914-6_electrical.jpg --DD

I can VERIFY that the factory manuals you order from Pelican have black and white wiring diagrams, and no labels!!!

I have the factory manual, but it's not the one I look at most. That would be the Haynes. There are things in the factory manual you can't find elsewhere, but I find I rarely need them.

Thanks for the help. I think I am going to get the 16 dollar Haynes manual. Can’t go wrong with a manual that’s only 16 bucks.
