Find a name from a tag number?

Greetings. Does anybody know how to get a persons name if you have their tag number? Thanks

In some states, you can just talk to the DMV. You may have to give them a reason for telling you.

In some states, the DMV is not allowed to give that info out. (CA is one.) Someone with a Private Investigator's license may be able to get the info, however. Z used to have one; he might still.

In Maryland it is easy if you have the VIN number. MD MVA can run a history check of the current and previous oweners of the vehicle. Not sure about the tag number.
