Do the original 2.0L sixes sound as good as the bigger flat-sixes?

Porsche's flat-six has to be one of the sweetest sounding motors (my neighbor took his 911 targa out for a drive this morning) ... one day I would like an original 914-6.

Agreed. The sound of those six thirsty Weber throats simply adds to the wonderful cacophany going on behind your right elbow... The later cars with a single throttle body mute quite a bit of that sound, which is in some ways a real shame.

The carb'ed and MFI'd Sixes sound the best, IMHO. And that includes the "wimpy" stock Six motor.

Yup, the really neat sounds don't come just from the exhaust, they come from either the 6 carburetor barrels or the 6 throttle bodies.
The best automotive sound I have ever heard came from a 1972 911T with a bursh muffler on it.
