Question VPC A/C Parts and Install help needed...

Great Forum, I've been following you guys for the last few months since buying my first 914! Now, I could use some of your help...

I just picked up a working VPC A/C package from someone parting their car. I've serached the forums here and at www.914club.com and have not been able to find any clear direction on installing this. I've found lots of individual details though on this or that, but not that comprehensive. The wiring diagram that's posted looks great.

Does anyone have the dealer install instructions or a link on the web I could look to? For real, I have searched everywehre, have come up with nothing and was hoping to find someone that has done this before that coudl point out a few of the pitfalls and layout some good pointers. The last thing I want to do is cut a hole too big or in the wrong place to run everything.

What I have is: Pulley, Compressor mount plate, compressor, drier, hoses (planning on replacing with Barrier hoses, but from where?), wires, underdash unit with fan and wiring and condensor unit with grille. Am I missing anything?

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I have not been able to find it. Any help is much appreciated as I am new to the 914 and want to preserve it's originality as much as possible (and ensure pleasurable summer driving in the South).

Thanks,
D1A3

I am installing the DPD system but they are very similar.

Here you go:

Make sure you buy a new drier. Once they get exposed to the air for long periods they get "used up". New ones are around $40 and thats much cheaper then a buying a new compressor due to too much moisture being in the system

Let me know if I can help

Cheers
Kerry

D1A3,
I don't have wiring diagrams or installation instructions for the VPCs but I do have a nine page long parts list from VPC. It has 3 parts diagrams of the 914 compressor and its mount, the evaporator and the condensor units. Each of the three diagrams has its own crossreferenced list of part numbers. The diagrams are excellent although I doubt if the part number lists would be of much help. If you want a copy, PM me with you mailing address and I'll mail you a copy.
Sorry but I don't have a scanner. I have the same info for the 911s (1972-1979).
