CHT calibration?
Hey all,
Does anyone happen to have a temp vs. resistance curve for the factory head temp sensor? Now that I'm leaving the factory FI behind, it'd be a shame for such a well positioned diagnostic sensor to go to waste. -Josh2 |

Look on my D-Jet parts web page, there's a link to a chart that shows the temp vs. resistance curve. I also have some of my own data on the page, too.

Just remember that the stock sensor's location makes it fairly slow to respond... Raby can bend your ear for a while with why you don't want to use that spot for your CHT gauge sender.

I already have a VDO CHT sensor (the flat thermocouple under the spark plug), but it'd be nice to have a secondary sensor that I can use as well without needing to spend the $50 or whatever to get another flat sensor setup.

There's a BIG difference in the temps read by the two sensors, however. Something on the order of 200dF.
You can get another ring thermocouple from Aircooled.net for $15. With a DPDT switch, you could easily set it up so the one gauge reads one sender or the other. The gauge is the expensive bit, not the sender. |

Hmm, not a bad idea. I knew that the factory CHT wouldn't agree with the VDO unit, but the switch idea is a good one. It'd be nice to be able to monitor -both- heads, without needing an additional gauge.
