How to remove the danged starter switch

Ok...Confused again. I used Pelicans faq to remove my starter switch. When I got to the last step...My system does not have the "two screws that hold in the small housing piece that constrains the ignition switch."

So I have pulled the entire mechanism out. Now what am I missing? Why can't I get the switch out? The housing won't come apart...

I don't know anything about the 75-76 models, but is there a hole in the side to push in a release pin while turning the ignition key? Or maybe those slots along each side of the key bezel are used for releasing the mechanism? Just guessing here until someone who actually knows posts the instructions.

Put your key in and turn it. It is currently locked to the shaft. You must have the key to get it out easily. The two screws that were mentioned in the other tech article were for a /6 or 911 probably as they are put in with two screws to the dash. Also, you wont be able to get the collar off without the ig switch removed.

I believe the article was written specifically about 72-74 cars. The 75-76 ignition lock, as pictured here, is different. I think I recall reading that you actually have to drill a hole in the housing to access the pin that you depress to remove the lock cylinder.

Ick.

I think forum user "ejm914" had posted the info on how to do that, but I cannot find it in a search.
