Unfortunately, the stock system has no place for all four pipes to be sampled, except in the muffler itself. That's why you might get the sensor installed in only one pipe.

If you do have a Bursch, the common wisdom seems to be to put the sensor in the collector.

Dave: I have seen the sensor put up the tail pipe and still work. On a stock 1.7 or 2.0L muffler why not put it in the pipe that exits the muffler? On a 1.8L you would have numerous places to put it.

I've got stock 2.0L exhaust, w/o a catalytic converter. What's the collective's opinion of mounting an O2 sensor in the tube that replaces the catalytic converter? Is it too far from the head(s) or will it eventually get hot enough? Thanks in advance.

RJM: That should work quite fine. The catalytic converter needs to get very hot to work so the sensor should be ok.

Hi Paul, I used the one from CB Performance and it works nice. Low price too and even lower if you order the parts instead of the kit it will save some $$$$. I mounted the O2 sensor (3 wire) in the collector. I would also get a length of the heat shield tubing to cover the exposed wires in the sensor area. Good luck.

John,

On this page, it shows the products. I am assuming I buy number 7135, 2913 and 2912. This is the weld in 18mm threaded piece, the monitor and the 3 wire O2 sensor.

I buy this stuff??? How well does it work?

Thanks,
Paul

By the way, I have a Bursch and will be doing the generally accepted in the collector mounting. I am assuming...don't call me stupid on this one that the collector is the fat part right before it enters the muffler. Seeing as to how that is where all four pipes come together...well the two that came from the four...that is where it goes.

Works great, takes a couple of minutes to get up to temp since it is a ways from the head. Notice the difference in costs??? They still haven't changed their web site?

John,

Yes, I did notice the difference in price. I am guessing that they justify that by the so called instructions included??? Oh well, not like I need them that much. Even if I do get stuck...I could talk to you guys or even call them.

Thanks again,

Paul
