Check here:
http://www.tunacan.net/t4/reference/case.htm 1.8 series: AP - '74-'75 VW Transporter - 7.3:1 - 68hp - Only sold in Europe. Came with dual carbs. You can fit any size pistons and cylinders in any Type IV (late Bus, VW 411/412, 914-4, 912E) case with pretty much the same amount of difficulty. With a 1.8, you can fit 96mm cylinders into the "registers" in the cylinder head without machining. This is 3mm over the standard 1.8's bore of 93mm, and will give you 1910cc displacement. If you replace the cam and up the compression to a decent level--and re-work the heads to support the flow required--you can have a nice fun engine that makes about 100 HP pretty easily. --DD
