Now that i have done a couple of times as well. The only problem with "sneaking away" is that you are never sure if they were accually going to pull you over or if you are just wasteing your time. Sometimes, i just pull over before i pass, get out, open my engine lid and proceed to look like i am messing with my car. It works.

Mike is right about the radio.... No chance getting away. Can we all agree that the theme of this thread is that Lawyers are the best and everyone should befriend/hire one immediately? I think so.

Since everybody else is, I might as well give my $.02.
My advice would be to play it safe while you are in your 914. As previous owner of a Bright WHITE 300ZX and an equally bright white Mustang Cobra cars like that tend to draw atention. What I mean is how obvious is a 914? It might not be fast but the fact that it is a Porsche and you don't see many on the road (at least not in Ohio) people and cops tend to think they are. With my new Black toyota tacoma not many people or cops give me a second look. I can cruise all day at 75+ down the highway and just blend in. Just be careful, you never know what will be waiting on the other side of that hill! |

Lawyers are good for 2 things, bad jokes and wasting money
![]() However they seam to have made themselves needed in our culture, so hiring one to fend off another is nessicary. Unless your Dr. Jack, then you just threaten to starve yourself. My vote, Jim - get your girl, and flee to Mexico, its too late for you already, start a life of crime! Become a bank robber! As for "sneeking away", in Jims case I'd say better safe then sorry. And most of the time you know your busted, if you don't then you should be. [This message has been edited by Germain (edited 11-16-1999).] |

I'm not much of a driver now, but when I was 19 or 20, I was as good as any one... until I spun out my 71 914 and wrecked it.
I agree with the rest of these guys, don't race on the streets. Thats why we build up these cars to go fast, so we can go slow on the streets and fast on the tracks.. or something like that. Help me out here... I'm choking on these words, I sound like my dad did. OH, NO! |

I know this is quite old but im new here. I too am 18 and my daily car is a Mustang GT. My 914 is my project(once my only means of transportation till motor blew) I am also getting "the second look from cops" in either car.
Anyway, one night after work, me and my friends were doing donuts (spelling?) in a parking lot. Little did we know there was a cop in another parking lot across the road itching to pull someone over. So we pull out and I see him. I know it was private property but if you have an expired inspection sticker, your screwed no matter if you did nothing wrong. I decide to break away from my friends and take the road opposite of the cop. He pulled my friends over. He was *****ing at them about driving like idiots and if I went the same way they did, we would have sll gotten tickets(he thought we were doing burnouts in the street). My friend of coarse blaimed it on me (knowing im to far gone to get pulled over). His words were" do you think this crappy truck could do burnouts?no, it was that guy in the PORSCHE" but, I still to this day have a clean record. I didnt care my friend said anything because we were on the other side of the building and the cop didnt witness it(still, the cop only heard the screeching tires and thought we were doing that in the street). Sorry for the rambling, its super late. Hey Jim, how did it turn out? |

This is....... old. Anyway, I got a $400 fine, two points on my driving record, and a 12 month court probation(don't get another ticket basically) which I've since violated and have gotten my licence suspended for six months. I got pulled over on highway 5 for 111 in a 70 (I don't normally drive this fast some same me the grief). Anyway that turned out to be a $1350 fine and a 1 month suspension and two more points on my record. The DMV mailed me a letter telling me I'm a negligent operater and that my licence ad been suspended for six months but I'm going to appeal that one or at least get a restricted licence. Word to the wise, don't drive like an assh@le, you'll come out a winner if you don't!
