WOT: I always thought the Ferrari Enzo was ...

one ugly, amateurish, kit-car lookin' thing and I think I figured out why . They have no history of designing beautiful things. That's generally recognized by the Japanese themselves who noted that former European colonies they conquered in the last century held onto and embraced European architecture but not Japanese architecture and style. I've heard that Japanese cities are generally regarded as being ugly too. Enzo

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Grasshopper It looks like the design criteria was to make a road car that echoed the styling cues of a current F1 car. I don't think there's much "cultural" influence in the design. I would be one to disagree with your blanket suggestion that Japanese cities are ugly. Most major asisan cities are a combination of older pre-industrial housing and modern business areas dominated by post modern architecture. Japanese cities are, when compared to most american cities, very clean and livable. Of course I drive a car that looks like a mutated shoe box so what do I now about automotive beauty

Not everyone will appreciate a car like the enzo, and it really doesn't matter. The car is all about the details and the technology. I got to see one up close at Moroso last year(my humble 914 in the back there). If you are a car guy, it will stop your heart. It is not beautiful or graceful, it doesn't have to be.

Sometimes form follows function. I like it, just because it's not like anything else. The F40 was like nothing else when it came out also...then came the era of the huge wing etc...

Personally, I don't care for the look of the Red Enzo. It looks to pointy. However, about 6 months ago, there was a brand new black Enzo parked in front of my office - it was bad a$$ - see for yourself:
