Question on Recaro Seats
I saw a pretty nice set of Recaro seats at my local wrecking yard. They were the factory option seats for a 1983 BMW 320is.
Has anyone ever tried these in a 914? I sat in them and they seemed to be about the same size - but I didn't have a measuring tape with me. It seems to me that this would be an upgrade over the sotck 914 seats but I wanted to check with you guys first. Also, does anyone know if there would be any mounting issues. I may just go back and buy them anyway and if they don't fit, I could sell them on EBay. Vern |

I doubt that they'd fit. The 914 needs a narrow, and shallow seat. Regular reclining seats tend to raise the driver quite a bit compared to the shells that the 914 was equiped with. Generally, a seat upgrade in a 914 entails a racing shell seat. Not a regular reclining seat.
But who knows? Maybe it'll fit. I'd say measure first though... -Josh2 |

Even if they physically fit in the car, chances are that nobody taller than about 5'8" would be able to sit in them without bumping the headliner. Most seats raise the driver up off the floor signifcantly--especially if you use their mounting mechanism--while the 914 seat is only an inch or two off the floor.
